Trail Segments

Trail Segments show the distances between points along a trail, route, or track. They're helpful for planning a route, and for checking on the trail how far it is to the next campsite or water source.

If you're on the trail when you open trail segments, Topo Maps+ shows distances from your location instead of from the trailhead.

How to view trail segments

  1. Tap a trail, route, or track on the map.

  2. Tap Segments.

List and horizontal views

Switch between two views using the icons in the top-right corner:

  • List view shows each point on the trail in a list. Tap any entry to see distances from that point instead of from the start of the trail.

  • Horizontal view is a trail preview: swipe or tap between points and see each one on the map.

Filter which points show

Below the trail name are filter chips that change which points along the trail are listed. They're all on by default except Photos, which needs photo access to be turned on.
